allbirds.com/products/mens-tree-runners3 things to fix in the outline
  1. 3 h1s: “Men's Tree Runner”, “Men's Tree Runner”, “Better Things in a Better Way”. A page has one main heading.Keep the one that says what the page is as the h1 and make the others h2.
  2. h1 to h3, skipping h2: first at “Notify me when back in stock”.Each heading goes one level under the one it belongs to, so make it h2. Set its size in CSS rather than by its level.
  3. 3 empty headings. An empty heading is read aloud as nothing and tells a crawler nothing. Remove it, or put its words in; space belongs in CSS.

Read from the page as clickd receives it, before any script runs. A heading drawn by script after the page loads is not here, and a crawler that does not run scripts does not see it either.

That was one page of allbirds.com.clickd reads its first 100 pages against one rulebook and ranks every fix by what it is worth. Free, about a minute.

  2. h2What does a roof repair cost?

One h1 that names the page, then h2 and h3 in order with no level skipped. Three of the sections ask what a person would.

What does it check?

Rules from the rulebook, and how many of the sites clickd has read miss each.

  1. Use one main headingGive the page exactly one h1 that says what it is about.
    71%of sites miss it
  2. Phrase headings as questionsPhrase at least one heading as the question a person would ask.

Questions

Can a page have more than one h1?

HTML allows it, but one h1 that names the page is clearest for readers, search engines and assistants.

Does skipping a heading level matter?

It breaks the outline that screen readers and crawlers use. Go from h2 to h3, not from h2 to h4.

Should headings be questions?

Where a section answers a question people ask, yes. Assistants can match the question to the answer under it.
